It’s been a while since I have done a MidWeek Review. Now is a great time to do so…
- I believe that I have learned more in the past 6 months than during any other 6 month period in my entire life.
- I couldn’t be more grateful to be able to write what I wrote on the line above.
- We are in the middle of a series entitled “Not a Fan”. It’s been a great series so far and I believe the last three weeks will be even better than the first two.
- Our staff has read EntreLeadership by Dave Ramsey and Gospel by JD Greear to kick off 2012.
- EntreLeadership might be the most practical leadership book I have ever ran across.
- I mentioned this on Twitter & Facebook but Gospel by Greear is a must read.
- I have never been more excited about the future of Freedom Church than I am right now. 2012 is going to be an incredible year.
- Please join us in praying that God would do what only God can do over the next couple of months. He is opening up some doors of opportunity that would be unexplainable apart from the power and favor of God.
- I love this community. I love the other Pastors and churches in this community. I love what God has done and is getting ready to do in this community and around the world.
- Sunday will be a powerful day! If you are in the area – I encourage you to do whatever it takes to bring people with you to Freedom and join us for Week 3 of Not a Fan.
- See you then.

19 Now this was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. 20 He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, “I am not the Messiah.” They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?”
He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.”
26 “I baptize with water,” John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. 27 He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”
I read this recently and couldn’t help but be intrigued with the humility of John. It was staggering. He was their to show the way and point people to Jesus. While doing so, he didn’t falter even when people tried to give him credit that was not his. Pride and insecurity could have done him in but he kept his eyes focused on God and on his calling. Nothing more – nothing less.
What would you and I have done in a similar situation? I am not sure about you but I think it might have been more of a struggle than I would care to admit.

Are you a fan or a follower of Jesus? Don’t answer too quickly. Many have no problem making Jesus one of many or even the first of many. That’s not what Jesus wants. Jesus is the one and only. It’s not a matter of semantics. It’s a matter of life and death.
Join us this Sunday as we continue with this brand new series!

5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days,7 and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.”
Those are not the words you want to hear from God when you are in the middle of a tragedy. God doesn’t always answer our prayers as expected. Sometimes he has to bring you through it rather than delivering you from it – but whatever it is He chooses to do – it’s for God’s glory AND for OUR good!
Go back and read the rest of the chapter. We serve a trustworthy God who has never made a promise that was too good to be true.
