Freedom what?

Jon, our Digital Arts Pastor, told me a crazy story last night. He said that a guy had emailed him with a few questions about Freedom Church. That isn’t all that weird, but the back story is what makes it a little more memorable…

This guy doesn’t go to church and really doesn’t have any interest in doing so. He said that he was at a grocery store and overheard some people talking about this “new church that was coming to town” called Freedom.

He googled the name, found the website, my blog, and the links to some of the other guys. He decided to email Jon, because “he didn’t want to bother the Lead Pastor” (dude, I am not sure who you are, but if you read this thing –”bother” me any time). He told him that he couldn’t believe the buzz about a church that wasn’t even off the ground.

As a result, he want’s to come and check out what all the excitement is about.

Gotta love that!

Office Space!

Well it is official! As I sit in the coffee shop again today, I have just received word that we have landed a real deal office complex effective tomorrow morning.

We thought we were going to have to lease a building and use cubicles for everyone, but this complex will allow us to each have our own seperate offices. This is HUGE for us as 5 guys meeting in coffee shops all day can get pretty annoying. A HUGE thank you goes out to Steve and Lori Cannon who made this thing possible.

I owe you big!

Community

After a post the other day in which I mentioned building bridges to the community – I have had some people ask me to clarify what that looks like for Freedom Church…

Just a few examples…

1. We will NEVER have a Christian school and we won’t strongly advise our parents to send their kids there. It’s not bad to go to a private school, but we need people to engage the local public school system.

2. We are not going to have organized sports teams that only play against other churches or other teams from within our church. Again, this isn’t bad, but we want to engage the community (and we don’t have any facilities anyway :)

3. We will help fund the community ministries that are already available in Acworth rather than starting our own. They are already staffed and easily accessible. Combining our financial efforts will make us all more effective.

More than anything else we will try and partner with the city of Acworth in any way that we can. We don’t want to recreate what they are already doing.

Together we can accomplish much more!

Freedomlive.net

The temporary site for Freedom Church is up and running.  This will serve as our under construction page for the next few months and then a brand new site will be unleashed as we get closer to launch Sunday.

 It will be amazing!

Very Cool

We got some great news yesterday as we added the 5th team member to the staff of Freedom. I will give you a bio about each of them in the very near future.

This will help us tremendously as we are now fully staffed even before we officially get on the ground.

This fact is pretty amazing considering the fact that our “sell” goes something like this…

“Hey man, we want you and your family to join our team, but we don’t have one dime to our name and you will have to raise all of your own support for the first couple of years….”

Definitely a huge God thing.  Pretty amazing!
