Give up to Go Up

This was a great quote given the fact that my 31st Birthday was yesterday…

Now more than ever i am aware that a person’s significant birthdays can either mark the passage of time, or they can mark changes they’ve made in their lives to reach their potential and become the person they were created to be.  With each passing year, I want to make good choices that make me a better person, help me become a better leader, and make a positive impact on others.  That requires a willingness to keep making trades, because for everything you gain, you have to give up something. -  John Maxwell

Pretty self-explanatory – you have to give up to go up.

Launch

Great week last week and this week will be no exception.

Bottom line – Make it a priority to be at Freedom Church this Sunday at either 9:45 or 11:15.

We’ll see you then.

Don’t Forget :: Only 3 more weeks til we move back to North Cobb High School.  Until then, here are directions to Barber Middle.

Kwesi and Orion

Received a letter the other day from a couple that helped us start the church.  Good stuff.

Kwesi and I started life over after Hurricane Katrina eventually relocated us to Acworth, GA.  During that time, our AWESOME neighbors invited us to a Freedom Launch Team Meeting and I was SHOCKED when the invitation was extended to sign up to partner.  This was exciting to me and I signed up that day in Freedom kids.  Ill also mention that Freedom was a very fertile church as I was pregnant a month later along with six others!  GO FREEDOM!!!

Anyhow, with both of us being unemployed and my being pregnant, our faith was being tested in a major way!  It was then that a miraculous thing happened; I got hired to work as a secretary even though I revealed that I was 5 months pregnant, which is unheard of.  I vividly remember telling Kwesi that God meant for us to move to Acworth so we could be part of FREEDOM CHURCH.

Not growing up in church and now helping start the best church I have ever been to!  Freedom is so much more than a church to me.  This is my FAMILY!!!

Pastor JR., thank you for being such an inspiration.  So many times I felt you were speaking to me at church but I couldn’t move. Finally, I listened to God, gave my life to Jesus, and immediately signed up for Baptism.  Let me just say, that it was the best decision I have ever made.

You and Devin are amazing people.  I have never felt like a number in a huge congregation. From day one of stepping foot in Freedom’s doors, I knew that I was about to embark on something miraculous.  Little did I know just how miraculous it would be.  So all in all, I just want to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for believing God, starting this church, and inviting everyone to take part in a MOVE of God that would “ALLOW PEOPLE FAR FROM GOD TO EXPERIENCE LIFE IN CHRIST,” including me and my family!

MidWeek Review

  • I love what God is doing right now.  In me.  In our church.  In our city. All over the world.
  • Sunday was a blast!  Loved having the original launch team on stage with me.  Looking back with gratitude and looking forward with expectancy!  God, Do it Again (Psalm 126:4)
  • Do you ever feel like you are a completely different person today than you were a few years ago.  That is happening in me right now – except it seems to happen about every couple of weeks rather than every couple of years.
  • I started eating correctly in addition to the normal workout routine in an attempt to lose a few pounds.  A few has turned into 31 and counting.
  • The move back to North Cobb High School happens on August 8th.  Very excited about that!
  • London starts Kindergarten this year.  Not quite sure if the school is ready for her!
  • Speaking at a Student Conference for a couple days next week.  Looking forward to it.
  • I have another birthday coming up on Monday.  I’ve learned that they come along with increasing speed the older I have grown.
