Leadership

God has been doing some things in my life over the past couple of months that I am now ready and very excited to share with you!

We’ve been praying specifically “how do we leverage the collective leadership capability of the people at Freedom Church so that people far from God can experience life in Christ.”

The initial answer to that question has come in the form of an exclusive leadership group entitled Momentum.  We will meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 PM for a total of eight weeks (August 12 – September 30th).  After that time, the current group will “graduate” and pass the baton to the next group coming behind them.

This will be an intensive leadership experience designed to increase your capacity as a leader and follower of Jesus Christ.  You must commit to attending every gathering (and getting there on time!), reading the three books that I have chosen, listen to several messages, and taking part in a final project with the group!

If you are interested, please apply online at http://freedomchurch.tv/momentum. The applications received no later than July 19th will be reviewed and 15 participants will be selected for this inaugural group.

I can’t wait to get this started!  Hope to see you there!

A little recap…

It’s going to take a couple days to get back on track with the blog after a week of vacation.  Until then, here’s a little recap…

  • Great trip to the beach with the family!  We love the water and the oil had not ventured into that part of Florida as of yet.
  • As bad as you think the whole BP Oil Spill is – I discovered that unless you live down there – you have no idea.
  • We brought two wonderful ladies with us to help with the kids while we were out of town.  We’ve done that the past couple of years and I don’t think we will change that until the kids get older.  It was great being able to go out with Devin after the kids had eaten dinner, etc.
  • I did a ton of reading while we were gone.  The book of choice for this trip was The Divine Conspiracy.  Fantastic book that our staff is now reading as well.  I REALLY wish I would have read this book earlier in my life!
  • We got back in town in time for Freedom on Sunday.  It was a great day as we baptized 21 people a couple months after we baptized 62.  That’s 83 people in 10 weeks with another week of baptisms planned this coming Sunday (Sign up here)
  • God has been challenging me extensively with some things recently.  Excited about the implications and the possibilities.
  • So proud of the staff and partners at Freedom Church!  I love them and appreciate them more than they could ever realize.
  • We kick off a series in two weeks that will have a substantial impact on everything we do in the future at Freedom Church.  It will be one of the most encouraging and challenging series we have ever done.  Begin praying now!

Rewind

Can’t wait til Sunday!  We will be baptizing a bunch of people at both Worship Experiences and it’s going to be an all-around great day!  If you still haven’t registered to be baptized you can do here.

Do whatever you need to do in order to get people there on Sunday as we close out the Rewind Series with the Number 1 Most Requested Song and Message from the past!  It will be a great day to invite people that are far from God!

Don’t forget::  We’re meeting at Barber Middle School for the summer while North Cobb High School completes renovations. North Cobb High is doing a great job getting things ready for our arrival on August 8th!

You can get a map to Barber here.  See you Sunday at 9:45 or 11:15!!
