Submission is a principle that is easily misunderstood – specifically in regard to marriage.
Devin and I talked about this together on Sunday and she did a fantastic job shedding some light on that subject!
In addition, I listened to another great message on the subject recently :: Below are a few notes that I think will be helpful.
Submission Does NOT Mean:
- A husband is in ultimate authority.
- A wife does not have independent thoughts.
- A wife does not seek to influence her husband.
- A wife must obey her husband’s command to sin.
- A wife is less intelligent or competent than her husband.
Submission Does Mean:
- A husband and wife are equal with complementary roles.
- Wives are to submit like Jesus (Luke 22:42).
- Husbands are to lovingly lead like Jesus does the Church (Eph. 5:25).
- A single woman should only marry a man she can follow.
- Christian marriage should be an accurate picture of the gospel.

The greatest accountability isn’t from top to bottom – it’s side to side. An interview was done in regard to those considered to be successful in their particular field.
What’s behind their success? It all comes down to how people handle crucial conversations. Within high-performing companies, when employees fail to deliver on their promises, colleagues willingly and effectively step in to discuss the problem. In the worst companies, poor performers are first ignored and then transferred. In good companies, bosses eventually deal with problems. In the best companies, everyone holds everyone else accountable—regardless of level or position. The path to high productivity passes not through a static system, but through face-to-face conversations at all levels.
The above quote came from a book entitled Crucial Conversations. I picked it up this past week. You should as well.

We have had a blast with the first two weeks of this series! Week 3 promises to be even better!
The rumor is true and Devin (my wife of going on 10 years) will be joining me on stage this week. This is her debut appearance and it promises to be a lot of fun. I’ve been looking forward to this particular Sunday for a long time.
9:45 or 11:15 are the start times. Help us out by coming to the 9:45 if at all possible to free up seats at 11:15. Be praying that God does what only He can do!
See you Sunday!
