MidWeek Review

  • Fantastic day at Freedom Church this past Sunday!
  • I preached through 2 Samuel 11 in a message about “How to have an affair,” as we closed out our relationship series.
  • There were some tense moments but it’s good to know that Gospel is far more powerful than our sin and/or temptation.
  • Where secrets live intimacy dies.  Where intimacy lives secrets die.
  • I am so proud of the people at Freedom.  We have a long way to go but God has done great things!
  • I gave people the information for some friends of mine who have partnered with Freedom Church in order to help strengthen the relationships of our people. Check them out at LifeOnTheCouch.Org.
  • The Acworth Egg Drop was this weekend and it was GREAT!  Huge thank you to Ben, Joni, Austin, and the entire crew who pulled that thing off.  Great job!
  • Duke is in the Final Four!  They scheduled the game after our first Easter Experience of the weekend Saturday night.  Grateful that they called me to make sure that the schedules wouldn’t interfere :)
  • Speaking of Easter – remember that we have 3 Worship Experiences planned for the community ::
    Saturday Night at 6PM and Sunday morning at 9:45 and 11:15!
  • We need to make room at 11:15 on Sunday so if you can help us out by attending on Saturday night or the 9:15 on Sunday – it would be very helpful!
  • We are kicking off a series this weekend called “Don’t Miss It“.  If you have friends who are far from God – you need to do everything in your power to bring them with you each week of this series.
  • Be praying that God will do what only He can do this weekend.  Prayer is powerful so I invite you to join us in praying for a miracle to occur in the lives of people!
  • This goes without saying but Easter Weekend is going to be Unbelievable!  So proud of all our people who are making it possible!

Invite!

My good friend Michael shared a variation of this on his blog last week.  I loved it enough to steal it and share it with you.

Regardless of all the marketing we do – the vast majority of people who show up at Freedom Church each week do so because of a personal invitation. Each week we give out invite cards to help you invite your friends and you do an incredible job of doing just that!  Freedom is the most “inviting” church I have ever encountered.  That being said, here are a few tips to take it to the next level.

  1. Hand them to people you meet and say “I’d love to invite you to my church.”
  2. Give them out in drive thru lanes.
  3. Put a stack at your office, store or place of work.
  4. Ask if you can set a stack out in a business that you frequent.
  5. Give them to neighbors, friends and co-workers.
  6. Leave them on tables at restaurants to invite your server (with a GREAT tip.  If you are a crappy tipper – save the invite card for someone else – and stop eating out at restaurants. Please).
  7. Make a list of five people and go seek them out.
  8. Ask God to give you an opportunity to give them out.
  9. Give them out in the lunchroom or before class begins.
  10. Keep a few in your wallet, purse or car – and give them away as you get the opportunity.

Don’t underestimate the power of a simple invitation!  You don’t have to have all the answers in order to help share the good news of Jesus or invite someone to church!  It’s an incredible opportunity!

Let them go!

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.
1 John 2:19

I heard T.D. Jakes say it first, but “When people can walk away from you: let them walk.” It’s easy to become enamored with the one that got away.  This is especially true in the early days of starting a church!  Keep in mind that your destiny is never tied to those that leave.

Let them go.

It doesn’t mean that they are a bad person – it just means that their part in your story is complete.

Stop begging people to stay.  If it’s time for them to go – Let them go!!

I Want A New Marriage

This has turned out to be one of my favorite series that we have ever done!

For the fourth and final week of the series we are turning up the heat just a bit by dealing with the subject of “How to have an affair.”   I am super excited about this week and can’t wait to see you on Sunday!

9:45 or 11:15 are the start times.  Help us out by coming to the 9:45 if at all possible to free up seats at 11:15.  Be praying that God does what only He can do!

What a Statement!

I could write so much on this subject but instead I’ll let the verse speak for itself.

When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you.
Deuteronomy 20:1

What a faith-enhancing, power-inducing statement!  You don’t fight your battles alone!
Stand firm.  He has your back!
