Hide and Seek

HideandSeek Series Graphic

Week 4 of this Series continues this week at both 9:30 and 11:00.

Do whatever you need to do to bring people with you.  It’s going to be a great day and I am praying that God will call something out of you that you didn’t even know existed!

See you Sunday!  By the way – thanks to all of you who have made the switch to 9:30!  Keep it up!

The Dip

If you haven’t read “The Dip” by Seth Godin – you should pick it up .  You can knock it out in a few hours and it will give you a good bit of perspective.   As the title suggests, it’s all about “The Dip” (or what my friend Pastor Steven Furtick refers to as the Process between the Promise and the Payoff).

The Dip is the combination of bureaucracy and busywork you must deal with in order to get certified in scuba diving.

The Dip is the difference between the easy “beginner” technique and the more useful “expert” approach in skiing or fashion design.

The Dip is the long stretch between beginner’s luck and real accomplishment.

The Dip is the set of artificial screens set up to keep people like you out.

Many people don’t see things through to the end because they give up in the midst of the Dip.  Quitting isn’t necessarily the wrong thing to do – just don’t make the decision while you are experiencing the Dip.

MidWeek Review

  • Fantastic all around day on Sunday.  I love watching the “lights turn on” in the eyes/hearts of people!
  • I’ve had a goal at the gym that I have been trying to attain for the past few months.  Bench 300 Pounds.  Accomplished that on Monday and it made me happy to know that if a large man fell on me that I could move him out of the way.
  • I say this all the time, but I am very proud of the team of people that I have around me.  They work hard, play hard, and love Jesus.
  • I spent several hours Monday afternoon working on a message series for January.
  • We have a play in our playbook that we almost sent into the game a little too early.  Instead, we called an audible, and I believe it was a very wise decision.  It’s going to greatly help a lot of people.
  • Praying that God will call something out of you that you didn’t know existed!  (See Judges 6)
  • Looks like my SafeEyes account is about to expire today.  Gotta go fix that.

Mediocrity is overrated

I see a ton of potential in people.  Sometimes more than they see in themselves.

My hope and prayer for you is that you will stop choosing the path of least resistance.  Choose to live your life for the glory of God.
Resist mediocrity.  Resist being average.

Average isn’t for you.  You are better than average.

Go for Broke!

Seth Godin said it well…

When the pain gets so bad that you’re ready to quit you’ve set yourself up as someone with nothing to lose.  And someone with nothing to lose has quite a bit of power.  You can go for broke.  Challenge authority.  Attempt unattempted alternatives.  Lean into a problem; lean so far that you might just lean right through it.

Don’t get lost in a daydream masquerading as a vision from God.  Sometimes you have to go for broke!
