A little sporadic

Since Devin and I are on a little vacation blogging will be a little sporadic over the next several days.

I might throw up a few posts and possibly post a couple pictures.

Either way, have a great week!

It’s going to be a fantastic day!

So ya wanna start a church…

I was reading through Michael’s book, and realized that my friend Tadd and I both had former blog posts that made cameo appearances.  Here’s what I wrote:

Church planting is a cool thing to do.  I agree with that 100%; however, if you are thinking of planting a church, you better have a more definitive reason for doing so than that.

Planting a church because it’s cool? – buy a new car…
…because it is exciting? buy a skydiving session and go jump out of an airplane…
…because you hate the one you’re in?   find a new one and invest your life there…
…because you want to be the “lead” pastor?   get over yourself, repent, and make sure there is more to it than that.

We need more churches and we need more church planters.  Just make sure that it’s not your faulty motives masquerading as a calling from God.  Make sure you were called to do it.   Then, answer the call – just make absolutely sure that is what you are answering.

MidWeek Review

  • Had a great July 4th Weekend!
  • We hung out at the pool most of the day on Saturday.  Lexi likes me to throw her around and London has already learned to swim.  Bryce loves water but would most definitely sink so there is plenty to keep Devin and I busy.
  • Todd, his kids, and their extremely pregnant wife came over as well.  Fun times.
  • Acworth’s biggest event of the year is the July 4th Celebration.  Always have a good time hanging out with 16,000 friends.
  • The lead singer for the band kept saying “Give it up for Freedom”.  Even though he wasn’t directly talking about us – you could hear the people from Freedom Church cheering every single time.  It was hilarious.
  • Sunday was interesting.  Add a monsoon to the holiday weekend and the 9:30 experience was lower than it’s ever been since moving to Barber.  11:00 was MUCH better attended AND we saw at least 6 people give their lives to Jesus!
  • Here’s the strange part:  Giving was actually very good this Sunday and in spite of being down about 100 people in attendance we were still up over 100+ than last year.  God is doing great things!
  • Hung out with some friends on Sunday night at Taco Mac.  Had a great time laughing about all kinds of things.
  • Pray with me as I pray through some things regarding the next several months at Freedom.  I am ultra-excited about what God is going to do!

Baptism

Several weeks ago we celebrated as a church those who have given their lives to Christ over the past few months.

38 people were baptized outside the school while a live-feed was being sent inside the auditorium.
It was a great day!

Here are a few pics of what I considered to be the most special baptism of the day – my 7 yr. old daughter!  She gave her life to Jesus a week prior and it was a surreal experience to have the opportunity to baptize my little girl!  Can’t beat that!  I am so grateful for what God is doing!
