MidWeek Review

By J.R., 22 July, 2009, No Comment
  • We got back from vacation on Saturday night.  Had a great time.
  • Pre-recorded a message a few weeks ago that we used on Sunday.  We’ve used video teaching a few times and it works great!
  • I had a birthday this past week as well.  I’ll talk more about that in a later post.
  • I will say that I was surprised with a Wii and all the “fixings” while on stage this past week.  Much fun!
  • After not having preached for the past two weeks – I am even more more pumped about Sunday. Can’t wait!
  • There are a lot of crazy things happening in the lives of people right now. Praying for God to pull off the miraculous in the lives of individuals and families.
  • I have never been more excited than I am right now about what God is doing at Freedom Church!

The New Normal

By J.R., 21 July, 2009, No Comment

People are accident prone.  I’m not referring to tripping on the sidewalk as much as I am our propensity to disregard God, choose our own way, and do extensive damage to ourselves and those we love.  The craziest situations imaginable are becoming the new normal.  What might have shocked us several years ago is now a nightly occurrence not just on the news – but in our lives.

The good news for us is that this is where grace kicks in.  The more messed up you are – the more likely you are to recognize your reliance on the grace of God.

Think knowing that you are filled with faults is a problem?  Not knowing is far more problematic…

C.S. Lewis wrote, “When a man is getting better he understands more and more clearly the evil that is still left in him.  When a man is getting worse he understands his own badness less and less.”

I know who I am and because of that – I am EXTREMELY grateful for the grace of God.  I think you should be too.

Confidence vs. Apology

By J.R., 20 July, 2009, No Comment

If God has given you a vision – you are going to have to sell it.  If no one is willing to buy-in than you will stall out before you ever have a chance to get started.

Stop apologizing for the dreams God has placed in your heart and sell the idea with confidence.  When it comes to the vision, if you don’t believe in it, than it is acenine to think that anyone else would.  Stop aplogizing and go for it!

Rebel

Vacation is winding down for Devin and I and we will be making our way back to Acworth tomorrow morning.

Week 5 of Rebel continues this week with a powerful message that I want you to hear!

See you Sunday!

MidWeek Review

  • At this very moment (barring some horrible tragedy), Devin and I are enjoying a cruise!
  • I heard Blake and Tyler did a great job on Sunday!  I am so proud of them  and not just for Sunday.  They are both incredible musicians AND leaders.  You would be surprised how rare of a combination that is.
  • We have the greatest partners on the planet!
  • I have been on several cruises in my lifetime.  I don’t think there is a much better way to vacation.
  • Before we left, someone anonymously left a few hundred dollars in my car for us to enjoy on the cruise.  Whoever you are – thank you!
  • I believe that Sunday is going to be a VERY powerful day!  See you then!
