Awakening!

awakening

I have been pumped about this series for 2 1/2 months!  This week we are kicking off Awakening – a series that is gauranteed to be one of our best yet!

I believe without any hesitation that we are going to experience more life-change during the course of this 3-week series than ANY that we have done so far.  Pray and invite like crazy during this entire series.  It’s going to be one that we don’t soon forget!

Don’t forget – 9:30 and 11:00 – this Sunday!  See you then!

What’s Missing?

I want to make great decisions.  No one wants to go through life screwing everything up because their decision making ability was deficient.

Here’s what John Maxwell had to say…

It is easy to make decisions based on what we know.  But there are always things we don’t know.  It is easy to choose a direction based on what we see. But what don’t we see?  Reading between the lines is essential for good leadership.  We are most likely to do that when we ask the question, “What are we missing?”.

Asking and answering the tough questions on the front-end make things easier to navigate on the back-end. Don’t get blind-sided because you refused to find out what was lurking just around the corner.

Online Giving

Sunday can be an eventful day…

Getting everyone awake, clean, fed, dressed, and successfully out the door without everyone killing each other can be challenging.  The stress is magnified by the fact that forgetting something – especially if you have very young kids – can be just short of disaster.

Here is something that can help.  I use to be horrible at remembering my checkbook.  I rarely use checks so I am definitely not in the habit of grabbing it when I walk out the door.  I would go 1-2, sometimes 3 weeks without remembering that dumb thing and then I’d have to double (or triple) up on what I wanted to give.  Needless to say, it made giving “joyfully” a little harder to come by.  Something had to change!

About a year ago – I discovered the joy of online giving.  Now, I never have to worry about it.  I do everything else online so this made complete sense.  Hopefully it will help you as much as it helped me!

MidWeek Review

  • The family and I took off for Memorial Day Weekend and headed to Lake Oconee.  Had a blast!
  • I caught Bass, Crappie, and Catfish.  On the last day we cooked and ate what we had all caught and had an all out feast…
  • I heard that Freedom was GREAT this past Sunday!  I have a great team of people around me!
  • I don’t want to publicly admit how long it has been since I have taken a Sunday off from preaching.  Not good at all!
  • Perry Noble preached for me while I was gone.  He’s one of the best leaders on the planet right now and his investment in my life and the life of Freedom have been huge!
  • Video isn’t an issue for Freedom Church at all.  We’ve done it twice and we get great feedback every time.  Good trial run for some things we have planned for the future!
  • Awakening is our new series that starts this Sunday.  I am beyond excited!  We are going all-out during the summer months.  Can’t wait!
  • My sinus infection could beat the crap out of your sinus infection :)
  • London fell in the lake while trying to cast her line from the dock.  I wasn’t there, but everyone said it was hilarious.  She didn’t think so at first.
  • I love what God is doing right now in the lives of so many people.  It’s a crazy journey but totally worth it!
  • Water restrictions will have to be reversed if the rain continues.  From now on, every person will have to water their lawn for at least 4 hours per day in order to avoid flooding.
  • Ive said this already but I seriously can’t wait for Sunday.  Awakening is going to be a GREAT series!

Power

I pray every day that Freedom Church would continue to become a powerful church.  A church lacking power isn’t an accurate picture of the character of God.   Jesus didn’t come come to this earth, die, and rise again so that His church could limp along until His return.

God is fully capable of making the extraordinary ordinary.  Leaders of every background, denomination, style, etc. are seeing God do what many had classified as impossible.  How?

Here is something that I’ve come to realize:  Vision is vital, but power comes through prayer.

Vision and strategy are important, but prayer produces the power that can shake a city, state, nation, and world.  My tendency is to spend disproportionate time on vision and strategy – while praying that God blesses the “work” we have done.

I need to stop praying “for” the work and realize that prayer “is” the work.
