Almost MidWeek Review

  • We wrapped up week 4 of Let’s Get It On this past Sunday.
  • I was sick.  At one point Saturday night, I thought we were going to have to go to Plan B for Sunday.
  • Some of the greatest communicators on the planet are always on-call just in case Plan B is called into play. Gotta love that.
  • I am convinced that Blake can sing anything!  Bringing in dancers for the Neyo song at the end was a cool touch.  Our people LOVED it.  Especially Ron :)
  • Looks like we might be moving into some larger offices in the next few weeks.  Best part is that we get to stay in the same building.  Praying that works out.
  • Our top 5 attendance and giving days at Freedom have all happened in the past 6-8 weeks.
  • We are counting down the days to the Acworth Egg Drop.  Today, we are going to make a big decision about that event.  Either way – it’s going to be a blast.
  • I absolutely love our next series that will kick off on Easter (9:30 and 11:00).  It’s called “Full of It” and it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch life-change happen.
  • After preparing the messages for the upcoming series – God has shown me a lot of things that need improvement in my life.  A lot.
  • A local magazine editor was in the house taking pictures and interviewing random people on Sunday.  I hope that went well.
  • Big things coming – for us and for churches all over the country.  Pray.

Work at Freedom?

We get asked ALL the time what we are looking for in a potential staff member at Freedom.  My friend Gary had a similar post a few months back. I took his list – tweaked a few things – and now I leave you with this.
  • We ALWAYS look to hire from within FIRST – It’s easy to buy in to the vision at Freedom for a paycheck.  Hiring within allows us to find people who have already bought in and get our unique culture.
  • When we don’t hire from within we ONLY hire people we know or are recommended from other friends we know – God’s given us great relationships with great leaders/ministries across the country.  As a result, we will use that network to find the best people.
  • You have to love Jesus – Period.
  • Your family has to be on board – You AND your spouse must be completely bought in.   Completely.  This is a non-negotiable.
  • You have to already be a giver - If you don’t already give to the vision of Freedom – than I am not going to pay you to rob God.
  • You must be a high capacity and teachable person – If you love to learn and you can get the job done – this is the perfect environment for you.
  • You’ve got to be a FREAK about those far from God – When we say we are a church for those far from God – we mean it.  If that bothers you – go sing songs with your 3 accountability partners in your Bible study – but don’t worry about applying here :)
  • You’ve got to be a person of character – Integrity is a big deal.  Not looking for perfection – but I am looking for people who take living for Jesus very seriously.
  • You’ve got to be an active partner – If you attend Freedom and you aren’t partnering- then I won’t give you a second look for a staff position.
  • You’ve got to fit - You might be the most talented person in the world but if you don’t fit with our team chemistry it isn’t going to work.
  • If you could picture yourself doing anything else anywhere else, do it - Freedom isn’t a stepping stone. I want to do life and ministry with people who want to give their life to this vision, this church, and this city!

This is nowhere near an exhaustive list, but it hits the highlights.  Freedom Church exists so that people far from God can experience life in Christ.  We are always looking for high capacity leaders to help fulfill that vision.  Who knows, you might already be on our “soon-to-be-staff-member-hit-list”.  :)

Fight, Fight, Fight!

It has been a great week!  I’ve gotten incredible emails and watching updates on Facebook and Twitter have been very fun to watch.  I love watching families make moves in the right direction when it comes to their marriage!

The opportunity to make that happen continues this week.  This could very well be the most important week of the series so far. Fight, Fight, Fight is the title and we are going to have a blast with this one!

On top of all that, we are bringing in two special guests from a prestigious dance (think hip-hop not ballet) company in Atlanta and this will be one to remember!  DO NOT be late – and I’ll see you Sunday!

Sexiest Professions

I read an article recently about what people perceive to be the “sexiest” professions. Apparantly, people are still infatuated with firefighters as they received the highest number of votes to earn the title as the World’s Sexiest Profession.
Much to my surprise, I did not see Pastors or Church staff members on that list.  :) They already have Calendar’s for almost everything. Why not a sexiest Pastors Calendar?

Actually, it’s probably a losing battle. Maybe next year!

MidWeek Review

  • Great day on Sunday in the pouring rain.  The weather has been horrible on Sunday’s as of late.
  • Attendance was still very good.
  • The sex challenge is in full swing.  This has been a great series so far!
  • Had a couple in their mid-sixties tell me Sunday that they were on their way to the drugstore to pick up Viagra.  I won’t tell you the other statement they made.
  • We had a blast at Unleash last week.  Ended up taking 36 people and they loved every minute of it.  Much love to everyone from Newspring.
  • I got the opportunity to hang with some great leaders from across the country – a few that I haven’t met up til that point.
  • I have to buy and sell a car this week.  Sell one that is too small and buy one that is a little larger.
  • Nope, not going to get a mini-van.
  • God desires to do infinitely more than I ever thought possible. I believe that more than I ever have.
  • I am almost done with the 6 week series that will begin on Easter.  I have said this for the past three, but this one will be the best we have ever done.  Seriously.
  • Sunday is going to be GREAT!  We are doing something that I have never seen done in church before – and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.
  • My two girls absolutely love their new baby brother.
