I think that we all set goals…
- losing X amount of weight
- getting out of debt
- accomplishing ________
- seeing X amount of growth by ______ in church, business, etc.
With that in mind, I am curious to hear how it is that you work your strategy. Do you just begin taking the steps that you think will get you to the desired destination or is it more intentional that that? Do you simply pray for the desired result and then watch and see what happens? What’s the method behind the madness in your life? Fire away…

I’ve always been pretty terrible at this. Usually, I just dream something up in my head and then do my best to try and get there. Not that much of a strategy really. Dang it!

My one and only strategy and goal is to “love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. I know that everything else will take care of itself. I am not saying we should not do things to get where God wants us I simply believe that if I focus on that I will just know exactly what it is I need to do. We are currently filling out applications for full-time missionary service with Arab World Ministries. We only pursued missionary service because I was seeking to love God and He led me here. Hope this is helpful. My advice to anyone is to focus on the primary things and let secondary things stay secondary.

Hey I’m a huge believer in reverse engineering your life. This means personal growth as a follower of Jesus, family and my work calling. The reason I moved my family from Australia to Georgia to do a Church Planting Residency with Churchplanters.com is because I believe God is calling me to start not just a church, but to be a part of nurturing His movement in Australia and South East Asia. With that calling I then prayerfully worked backwards from there. It clarified the need to be properly prepared BEFORE jumping in the deep end, that’s why we’re here soaking and learning everything we can before we take the next step of the journey.
Does that make sense?

Jeff,
Not sure what you said makes sense. No matter how much we “love God”, there will always be a strategic sequence of events that must be followed. You feel God’s calling you to be a missionary: I am sure you have a strategy to get on the field…Application, Support Raising, Visa, Etc.
Following God is central, but He gave us a brain to think though a process.

Hello Eric,
I am in full agreeance with the fact that I have to do things. I would never say otherwise. My point is this “33But(AY) seek first(AZ) the kingdom of God and his righteousness,(BA) and all these things will be added to you.
34(BB) “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matt. 6
Our job is to seek after God Himself. His job is to reveal His will.

Umm, I like outlines. Hehe.
Yea. Have a number of Goals (I, II, III), and then action steps (a, b, c, d).
For me thats a simple way of doing it.
Definitely praying that I am soing His will is the first thing though.. But the practical steps, I function better with pen and paper.
